Wireless buzzer for the photo booth: triggering via page-up command.

The large buzzer for the photo booth costs €149 and is available again. We build it ourselves in Greiz and it works wirelessly with dslrBooth: when pressed, the receiver sends a “page up” keyboard command to the computer, which starts the countdown.

Which software does the buzzer work with?

The buzzer is not tied to dslrBooth. It works with any photo booth software in which a page-up command can be assigned to trigger or start a session, such as Breeze or Darkroom Booth. The guide Photo booth software compared gives an overview of the programs.

Technical details

• Runs on two AAA batteries (included)
• Control LED shows the battery status
• The receiver is a small USB stick that plugs into the booth computer
• No driver installation required; the receiver registers as a keyboard

When is a buzzer worthwhile?

A buzzer is useful wherever guests should not or cannot operate the touchscreen: at children’s parties, at corporate events with hosts on the stand, or when the booth stands behind a barrier. With the buzzer stand it stands at hand height next to the booth. The buzzer fits all our systems, from the Photobooth Ready to the Profy.

How is the buzzer set up?

Plug the USB receiver into a free port on the booth computer; Windows recognises it as a keyboard. In dslrBooth check in the settings that the “Page Up” key starts the countdown, which is the default. A press on the buzzer then triggers the same action as touching the start screen. The range is sufficient for the usual distance of two to three metres between buzzer and booth; you recognise empty batteries by the control LED going out.
