Printers
Parts of my layout are cropped when printing. What can I do?
dslrBooth has a function for scaling and shifting the print layout: Settings → Print → Printer alignment. Use it to compensate for your printer’s offset.
As a rule, avoid placing important elements such as logos or text right at the edge of the image. Dye-sublimation printers do not always cut to the exact millimetre, so slight differences between individual prints may remain. The printers we offer are described in the guide Which photo printer for a photo booth?.

The printer’s colour ribbon has torn. What can I do?
A torn ribbon can be taped back together with an overlap; the printer then continues to work normally. Alternatively, without tape: wind the ribbon a few turns onto the used side while pulling it slightly taut.
To avoid ribbon tears in winter, let media kits reach room temperature before loading them. Otherwise condensation forms and the ribbon tears more easily. Suitable media kits for DNP, Citizen and Sinfonia are available in the shop.
LED ring
Where do I find the drivers and software for the fexon LED ring?
The current installers (version 3) for the LED ring are available here, depending on your photo booth software:
- dslrBooth: DSLR Booth V3 installer
- Breeze (DSLR Remote Pro): DSLR Remote Pro V3 installer
- Darkroom Booth 3: DarkRoom V3 installer
- Sparkbooth 6 installer
- Social Booth: uses the DSLR Remote Pro V3 installer
- RightBooth V3 installer
Video guides for installation:
There is currently no video guide for RightBooth V3. The older version 2 drivers and the original LED ring software are available on the downloads page; they are intended for existing installations only.

Photobooth Natty
Is there a sleep mode for the Natty’s tablet? The power button is hard to reach inside the housing.
The Microsoft Surface inside the Photobooth Natty has a built-in sleep mode. As soon as the booth is disconnected from mains power, the Surface automatically goes to sleep after a short while; you set the delay in the Windows power options.
When the booth is powered again, the Surface wakes up and can be unlocked for a short time with a swipe upwards, without pressing the power button.

Photobooth Ready
How do I calibrate the touchscreen on my Photobooth Ready?
For Photobooth Ready units built from 2023 onwards, a short video shows the calibration step by step: video “Calibrating the touchscreen, Ready from 2023” (Dropbox, MP4).
Units built up to 2023 (ELO 1537L touchscreen)
- Check power and connection: The ELO touchscreen must be properly connected to the computer and switched on.
- Driver: The ELO Touch driver is stored on the computer under C:\installation (folder Elo-Touch). It is normally installed already.
- Open the calibration tool: Once the driver is installed, the ELO calibration tool is available via the Control Panel or Start menu.
- Start calibration: The tool guides you through the process with on-screen instructions. Touch the displayed points one after the other.
- Test: Afterwards open a few applications and check that the screen responds precisely to touch.
- Troubleshooting: If the touchscreen is still inaccurate, repeat the calibration or consult the help section on the ELO website.
Check the calibration regularly, especially after transport. Further answers are available in the help centre.

The camera clicks before the shot, focuses and only fires one or two seconds later. How do I avoid the first click?
The first click occurs when the camera switches to live view. Avoid it by either switching live view off in dslrBooth or leaving it permanently on. Permanent live view, however, puts strain on the DSLR sensor and shortens its life.
To avoid the focusing delay, switch off autofocus on the lens and choose a small aperture for plenty of depth of field (f/8 to f/16). The flash power then has to be set considerably higher, and the focus is set manually once at the spot where guests will stand. Suitable basic settings for flash and camera are given in the FAQ Lighting behind the guests.
The background behind the guests is very dark. Which settings help?
Use the camera’s manual mode (M). Proven starting values: a relatively high ISO, aperture opened to around f/5.6, shutter speed around 1/80 second. Then reduce the power of the studio flash until the people are correctly exposed.
The longer shutter speed and higher ISO let the camera capture more ambient light, so the room behind the guests becomes brighter while the flash only lights the people. Check the result with a few test shots at the venue, as every room is lit differently. The cameras that work with the software are listed on the camera page.

The monitor of my Photobooth Ready stays black. What could be the cause?
First check whether the monitor was switched off by accident. Press the bottom button on the monitor’s button bar.
If it stays dark, check the monitor’s power cable and video cable (VGA). If a blue window appears briefly when switching on and then nothing else, the input signal is missing; the video cable is then probably not seated properly at the PC. To be sure, you can also test the screen on a laptop: if it shows an image there, the cause lies with the computer or the cable, not the monitor. The assembly guide with connection overview is available under Downloads.
The monitor of my Photobooth Ready stays black. What could be the cause? →
The screen is always dark during the countdown (live view), but the finished photo is displayed correctly.
This is caused by an aperture that is closed too far or ISO values that are too low. In live view the camera shows the ambient light without flash, so the image looks dark, while the final shot with flash is correctly exposed.
Set the aperture to f/5.6 to f/8 and raise the ISO (up to about 8000, depending on the camera). Then reduce the flash power so the final photo is not overexposed. The matching basic values are also given in the FAQ Lighting behind the guests.
We would like to brand our photo booth. Are there templates for that?
Yes. For every booth we have prepared the branding areas digitally. The files are available as vector files, PDF and DXF: branding templates (Dropbox folder). With these, you or your agency can produce the foils to fit exactly.
On request we deliver the booth fully wrapped: you send us the finished print data, we have the foils plotted and apply them to the booth before dispatch. Select the “branding” option in the configurator of the respective booth, for example the Photobooth Profy. Please note: an individually wrapped booth is a custom-made item and excluded from the right of withdrawal (notice in the configurator).
A ready-made chalkboard design for the Photobooth Ready is offered by a third-party supplier: large photobooth chalk set (shop.leoniecappello.com). More in the guide Photobooth branding for the Photobooth Ready.

Software
I get a message saying the maximum number of software activations has been reached. What should I do?
The dslrBooth licence supplied with your booth may be installed on a maximum of two computers. Occasionally the message appears even though the licence is only active on one computer. You manage the activations yourself in your fotoshare.co account:
- If you have not done so yet, create an account at fotoshare.co/account/login via “Create new Account”. Enter the …@fexon.de e-mail address you received with your purchase and the matching licence key (both are in the licence e-mail sent after purchase) and choose your own password.
- In the account, open the “App-Licenses” tab and select the licence concerned.
- Click “Activations” and deactivate one activation or, if in doubt, all of them (“Deactivate”).
The licence can then be activated again on the computer you want. More about the software is on the software page.
The camera keeps losing its connection to the PC. What is the cause?
In rare cases USB cables “age”: the connector or the cable itself becomes unreliable over time, especially after many transports. First try a new USB cable between the camera and the computer. Also check that the cable sits firmly in both sockets and is not under strain.
If the problem persists, contact us via the enquiry form or by phone; please have the model and year of manufacture of your booth to hand.

The software says the licence needs to be renewed. Is my licence expiring?
No. The dslrBooth licence supplied with your booth is permanent. The message appears one year after activation and indicates that updates to newer program versions are no longer included from that point on. The installed version keeps running unchanged.
Close the message with a click on “Later”. It appears once at every restart and cannot be switched off; only renewing the update subscription with the developer Lumasoft removes it. Whether that is worthwhile depends on whether you want new features such as AI background removal or guest control via smartphone; see the software page.

Where do I find the settings for sharing photos via QR code?
With an internet connection, photos are shared via the fotoshare.co service, an online album per event.
- Create an account: You need a fotoshare.co account linked to your dslrBooth licence. At fotoshare.co/account/login click “Create new Account”, enter the …@fexon.de e-mail address you received with your purchase and the licence key from the licence e-mail, and choose your own password.
- Create an event: Open dslrBooth on the booth and enter a suitable event name. With “Enhanced Sharing” active, the software automatically creates an album for it at fotoshare.co (internet connection required).
- Configure the album: Log in at fotoshare.co; the album is listed under “Events”. If “Privacy” is set to “Public”, every visitor to the album sees all photos. If guests should only see and download their own photo via QR code, set it to “Private”.
Further software questions are answered in the help centre.

How can I use an iPad as an additional screen?
This requires an iPad; Android or Windows tablets do not work. Download the Lumashare app from the App Store and activate the licence in it. You received the access details by e-mail after purchasing the booth.
The iPad must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the booth. All photos are then synchronised automatically, and guests can view and share them on the iPad. In the app you also decide whether printing from the iPad is allowed. The Natty kiosk system offers an iPad holder as an option.
Guests should e-mail their photo and at the same time agree to marketing consent. Is that possible?
Yes, with the disclaimer function in dslrBooth. You enter a freely worded text that the guest must confirm before the photo can be shared or printed. The confirmation is stored together with the e-mail address entered.
Note: Whether the wording is sufficient as consent under the GDPR and competition law must be checked by your client’s legal adviser. We provide the technical function, not legal advice. More on marketing use is in the guide Photo booths in corporate marketing.
The photo booth software becomes slow or sluggish after a while. What helps?
Delete the log file (extension .log) in the dslrBooth folder and then restart the software. The folder is usually under User → Pictures → dslrBooth. The file grows during operation and slows the software down once it has become very large; after the restart it is created afresh automatically.
If the software remains sluggish, also check the free disk space on the computer and close other programs. Further help is available in the help centre.

The booth takes several photos in a row, but I want single shots.
The number of shots depends on the print layout selected in the dslrBooth template editor. If a layout with three photos is set, the booth automatically takes three pictures in a row. For single shots, select or create a layout with only one image field.
Several layouts can exist side by side; the guest then chooses on the start screen which one they want. The software page gives an overview of the software features.
